PLACES TO VISIT NEAR Segarelli

Absolutely doesn’t miss interesting and characteristic places to visit close to Podere Segarelli. They are small villages that still show an authentic slice of life in the area and they definitely worth the visit, better in times of various festivals and country fairs.
The closest of all is Montecerboli, a small medieval village 2 km from theAgritourism. Next to Montecerboli there is Larderello where you can drop in to visit the Museum of Geothermal Energy.

At 10 Km there instead Pomarance. It is the largest town in the area where you can also find a large supermarket, pharmacy and other shops. Here you can visit the Church of San Giovanni Battista, the House Bicocchi and Permanent exhibition of the Warriors and Craftsmen.

San Dalmazio is another small village in the municipality of Pomarance where  is worth visiting the ancient Rocca Sillana. It’s a fortification built in medieval times on one of the highest summits of the hills of the Val di Cecina. And ‘it surrounded by dense woods and if you are equipped with a camera, you can take beautiful panoramic photos.

That of Castelnuovo Val di Cecina has a very attractive old town as it is positioned on the slopes of a hill overlooking the valley of the river Pavone. It has ancient origins and still retains the architectural characteristics of the past.

At 15 Km from Segarelli is the cute village of Montecastelli Pisano. A very impressive historic site and subject of recent renovations that have made it one of the most beautiful old towns in the surrounding area.

AND DOESn’t END HERE …

While in Montecatini Val di Cecina you should definitely visit the Mining Museum. It is a mine where they extracted the copper with a long history. In fact it was active from Etruscan until the beginning of 900. 30 km away from here.

A little further away, going towards the sea, you might make a stop in Massa Marittima. Together with Volterra was a very important city in the past and still preserves the historical and artistic traces visible in the buildings surrounding the main square and its imposing Cathedral of San Cerbone.

Going in the direction of Pisa you will find the village of Lajatico. If you book early you could enjoy the shows organized in the charming outdoor theater, the Teatro del Silenzio, built by the will of the popular singer Andrea Bocelli native of this country.
