Cities of Art

We are fortunate to live in the heart of Tuscany.
This means that we are “surrounded” by the major art cities of the region.

The nearest is Volterra, 30 km from Segarelli. City of great historical and artistic importance already important in Etruscan and Roman times. It houses works of art such as Rosso Fiorentino Deposition, the Annunciation by Signorelli, Christ in Glory with four saints and a donor of Ghirlandaio and one of the most important archaeological museums in the region, Museo Guarnacci. Here are the Etruscans and Romans finds coming from the excavations of the area especially from the Roman theater and the roman baths, however, still visible in the city. Volterra is also very close to the province of Siena. In fact, a few kilometers from this you can visit San Gimignano, famous for its ancient towers and for good wine.

A 90 km from Segarelli is Florence. Universally considered the cradle of art as a place of origin of the Renaissance. Thanks to its numerous monuments and museums is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia Gallery … to visit absolutely!

Siena is instead a little ‘closer, 60 Km. Beautiful medieval town best known for the tradition of the Palio but also for its historical, artistic and landscape heritage . Furthermore, between Siena and Florence you can “get lost” in the Chianti hills to enjoy their glass of wine and a breathtaking views .

Further north you can reach Pisa, 87 Km from Segarelli. There is no tourist who miss to visits the Square of Miracles, declared a World Heritage Site with the cathedral in white marble and the famous Leaning Tower.

Definitely not to be missed is the town of Lucca 98 km away from the agritourism. It is a beautiful art of the famous Tuscan city known for its historical monuments and the intact sixteenth century city wall, the square that still retains the layout of the Roman amphitheater and the unusual Torre Giunigi.

Arezzo is the farthest from the agritourism. In all, is about 150 km far but really worth to drop by. It is known throughout the world as the city of gold as it is still kept alive the ancient tradition of jewelery. But most of all it is famous of its historical and artistic heritage. The wooden crucifix by Cimabue in the church of San Domenico, the Vasari Loggia in Piazza Grande, the Roman amphitheater, just to name a few. A special event held in Arezzo is the famous carousel del Saracino, a medieval reenactment held in the months of June and September.
